Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a broad field of study that aims to automate cognitive tasks previously only achievable by humans – tasks such as estimating credit risk, identifying defects in products, playing board games, and driving cars. The field focuses on defining, understanding, and implementing systems capable of intelligent actions; today, much of AI concerns learning patterns in data for decision-making. These systems are largely computer-based and AI is an integral part of Computer Science. It is, however, multidisciplinary in nature, including areas such as cognitive sciences, economics, and psychology.
